Flying Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 From Doha to Phuket in Business Class

We have just landed at Hamad International Airport in Doha and are making a transfer to fly to Phuket, Thailand.  There’s a 3-hour wait time and we are handing out at the airport.

The Qatar Hamad International Airport, with IATA code DOH, was open in 2014.  The airport is very large and modern.  It is rated the world’s best airport in 2022.

Th Doha giant teddy bear at the airport.  More about the bear here.

We are now checking out the Qatar Airways Al Mourjan lounge.  It is located upstairs.

The lounge is very new, clean and immensive.

The circular stairs bring us to the buffet area.  A la carte is also served.  Unfortunately, I did not take any picture of the food so not much to show here.

A good place to spot airplanes in one of the lounge seating areas.

After relaxing at the lounge, it’s time to head to the boarding gate.

For this route, we are flying on the Boeing 787-8, 9 years old aircraft.

The cabin crews are serving the welcome drinks.

This is my 5K seat, where I will spend my next 6 hours and 45 minutes in my life.

Let’s explore this business class seat a bit.  Note that this 5K seat is missing 1 window.  It is the last seat in this isle.

Plenty of switches to adjust seating positions.  The seat can be changed to a 180 flat bed.  Several amenities for passenger’s comfort.

The footrest is not very roomy.  But I managed to sleep on and off for a few hours during the flight.

It’s time to explore the cabin.

The flowers are fresh.

Food is a la carte.  Since my stomach is still full, I just order some light snacks – Thai fire rice and pandan pudding for dessert.  The food is so yummy.  The fire rice is like just coming from the wok in the kitchen.  It’s so fresh and juicy.

And during these critical times…

Time goes by so fast and before knowing it, we are arriving Phuket.

Flying through the beautiful Phuket islands in the early morning.

Right before landing, some chocolate candies are handed out to each passenger.

At around 7:20am local time, we finally touch down at Phuket International Airport on runway 27.  It is a very smooth landing.  Enjoy the landing video below:

I had a great time on this Qatar Airways flight.  The food was great.  The cabin crews were very friendly and their service was above and beyond.  I hope to fly with Qatar Airways again in a near future.
