EVA Air Semi Hello Kitty Flight Review: Taipei to San Francisco

The EVA Air Hello Kitty dream jet is a super popular flight — from ticketing, check-in, onboarding process, aircraft to food, drink, service — everything is with the Hello Kitty theme.  If you are a fan of Hello Kitty, you don’t want to miss this special flight!

This flight only serves in certain routes in the EVA Air flight network.  Starting Q4 of 2019, the Hello Kitty Hand-in-Hand jet serves the Taipei-San Francisco bound.  I was super excited and have booked the tickets early for the flight.  Then several weeks before departure, EVA Air announced the flight was cancelled due to some operational changes.  I was so disappointed.  Later on, it turned out that this flight was still a Hello Kitty flight, but the service was limited.  Let me share my flight journey.

Lounge

EVA Air has four lounges in Taipei Taoyuen Airport:  The Infinity, The Star, The Garden and The Club.  Access to each lounge is based off the class tier.  We went to The Infinity.

The Semi Hello Kitty Flight

The 12-years old Boeing 777-300ER flying us from Taipei to San Francisco — just a regular jet instead of the special Hand-in-Hand Hello Kitty livery.

But to my surprise, upon entering the aircraft, I saw Hello Kitty decoration everywhere.  Later on, I realized that this was a ‘semi’ Hello Kitty flight which means only partial Hello Kitty service was offered in this flight.

Inside the aircraft, the Hello Kitty theme was seen everywhere.

Some amenities such as lip palm, hand lotion, etc.

Takeoff

The takeoff was smooth and easy.  Enjoy the beautiful takeoff video.

Meals

About 30 minutes after takeoff, the full course dinner was served.  The lovely Hello Kitty tablecloth for the seat tray.

Then the dessert was server via a cart.

A tea and some sweets ended concluded the dinner.

In the middle of the flight, feeling a little hungry, I ordered a snack: Seafood chow mein and a mocktail.  The food was very fresh and tasteful.

About few hours before the landing in San Francisco, breakfast was served.  I opted for the traditional Taiwanese breakfast.

Landing

At around 6:30am local time, we were making the landing at San Francisco International airport.  Please enjoy the landing video.

Conclusion

I am sad that I missed the Hello Kitty jet with full service.  I had been waiting for this for so long.  On the other hand, I am happy that at least, I was able to experience some of it on this flight.

I enjoyed this flight so much, and will find another opportunity to fly again on one with the full Hello Kitty service.  EVA Air has once again delivered its best service to the customers.  It has the best-in-class hard and soft products.  I highly recommend EVA Air to anyone.
