Asiana Airlines A380 Flight Review: LAX to ICN in Business Class

Today, I am flying from Los Angeles to Seoul with Asiana Airlines.  I am very excited to fly on their jumbo jet Airbus A380.  Asiana Airlines is a flag carrier based in Seoul, Korea.  It’s a 5-star rated airline.

At the Airport

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the busiest airports in the world.  It is 7pm in the evening.  Most international flights won’t depart until midnight, but departure hall is already packed with passengers lining up to check in.

Lounge

Asiana Airlines is a member of Star Alliance and is sharing the Star Alliance Lounge at LAX.

At the Gate

The gates for international departures are at the West concourse in the airport.  Passengers are waiting to board the planes.

There are other A380’s outside waiting to fly out: Korean Air and China Southern:

And our big bird!

A long line waiting to board this giant aircraft, but the process is quick and we are departing on time.

And the excitement begins…

The Aircraft

This is a giant, double-deck aircraft.  On the lower floor, it starts with the First class section.  The rest is Economy class.  On the upper floor, the first 2 sessions are Business class, and the third section is Economy class.

The Business class seating configuration is 1-2-1.  The seat is flat-bed but I wish the footrest is wider so that the legs are more comfortable in a long-haul flight.

A quick tour on the upper floor.

At the front, there’s a lounge-style seating area but not seeing anyone there.  There’s no food served there.

Meals

This flight includes 2 meals: dinner and breakfast.  Snacks and drinks can be ordered any time.

For dinner, I order the famous Korean Bibimbap.

Before landing, breakfast is served, starting with some fresh fruits and a yogurt.

Then the coffee.

And finally the main course.

The dishes are served one at a time – just like a fine-dining experience on the ground.

Conclusion

From ticketing, customer service, check-in, to food and the entire flight experience, I am very happy with this 5-star airline in my trip.  Way to go, Asiana!
