These Easy Appetizer recipes are perfect for any occasion! Whether you’re looking for the perfect starter to an elegant dinner or the best dips to serve on game day, these easy appetizer recipes have you covered!

long collage for easy appetizer recipes with nine images and title

We love doing a meal of appetizers for different holidays, game days or just for a gathering with friends.

These are some of our favorites, and there’s something for every occasion!

How Many Different Appetizers Should I Serve?

This is a question I am constantly trying to answer myself. You definitely don’t want anyone to leave hungry but neither do you want there to be a ton of food leftover.

It also depends on the occasion. An elegant dinner party where the appetizers are just the starters to a nicer meal is a lot different than a holiday cocktail party or game day tailgating where little bites are the main event.

A rule of thumb is to make 2 or 3 appetizers for a dinner party and 5 or 6 for a cocktail party. I like to vary the dishes- maybe one savory, one slightly spicy, a lighter, healthier option, and a dip or two. And don’t forget the meat and cheese board!

These Homemade Breadsticks are better than Olive Garden! Ready in one hour from start to finish!

Wondering what to dunk them in? Try my Pasta Fagioli soup, this Rigatoni Pasta Bake, or this Italian Sausage Soup!

homemade breadsticks lined up on a pan.

I’ll be the first to admit that Olive Garden breadsticks are the only reason I go to Olive Garden at all.

There is just something about fresh yeast breads that can’t be beat, and homemade breadsticks, buttery and garlicky, and sprinkled with herbs and Parmesan are at the top of my list.

These breadsticks are soft and fluffy, with Italian seasoning and garlic in the dough, and brushed with garlic butter and sprinkled with Parmesan fresh out of the oven.

They are irresistible on their own, but if you must have something to dunk them in, this Chicken Gnocchi Soup, this Sausage Tortellini Soup and this Lasagna Soup are the perfect additions!

Can I use active dry yeast in this breadstick recipe?

You can definitely use active dry yeast in this recipe, but it will require a couple of changes.

First, you’ll need to proof the yeast by dissolving it in warm water. Active dry yeast has larger granules so it needs to be completely dissolved before adding to your flour mixture.

You will also need to allow for longer rise times, so the complete process will take 3-4 hours.

breadsticks on a sheet pan with a bowl of tomato sauce.

Can I use whole wheat flour in these breadsticks?

You can definitely use whole wheat flour for this breadstick recipe — I usually do when I am making them for our family.

You can start with 2-3 cups of whole wheat flour for a light whole wheat dinner roll, or use up to 100%. 100% whole wheat breadsticks will still be delicious but will not be as light or fluffy.

When I make these for our family, I tend to stick with 50-75% whole wheat flour. I find adding even a bit of all purpose flour makes them fluffier than 100% whole wheat flour.

part of a breadstick being dipped in tomato sauce.

How to freeze breadsticks:

These breadsticks are perfect for making ahead and saving in the freezer.

They reheat beautifully and are the perfect addition to so many meals!

To freeze breadsticks, let them cool completely — I usually let mine sit for 1-2 hours on a wire rack on the counter. Place in an airtight plastic bag and freeze for up to 3 months.

To thaw, place on a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb any extra moisture and let sit at room temperature for an hour. You can also thaw them at a low temperature in the microwave, just be careful not to make them too hot or they can dry out.

To serve, I like to brush with additional garlic butter, wrap in foil and bake for 8-10 minutes until warm. They’ll taste just like they were fresh from the oven!

If you don’t want to use foil, you can always warm it on a low oven on a sheet pan, brushed with garlic butter.

Homemade Breadsticks

These Homemade Breadsticks are better than Olive Garden! Ready in one hour from start to finish!
Course Bread and Baked Goods
Cuisine American
Diet Vegetarian
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Rise time 20 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes
Servings 24 breadsticks
Calories 176cal

Ingredients

  • 6-7 cups all-purpose flour divided
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant or quick yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • cups warm water (105-110°F—warm but not hot)
  • ½ cup salted butter melted

Garlic Butter

  • ¼ cup salted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a large bowl (the bowl of a stand mixer if you’re using one), stir together 1 cup of flour, sugar, yeast, salt, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Add the water and butter and stir until combined. Add 2 more cups of flour and stir with a spoon.
  • Put the bowl in a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook and gradually add the remaining 3 to 4 cups flour, ½ to 1 cup at a time. As the dough gets closer to being ready, reduce the amount of flour you add at once so that you don’t add too much. (You can make this dough by hand as well. Just stir in the flour gradually, until you can no longer use a spoon, then knead it in by hand, just until a soft, smooth dough forms.) When the dough is soft and slightly tacky, but not sticky, it’s ready.
  • Cover and place the dough in a warm, draft-free spot for at least 20 minutes, up to 1½ hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Uncover the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Divide each piece into 6 equal portions so you have 24 pieces. Keep the dough covered to prevent drying out while you roll each breadstick.
  • Roll each piece of dough into a smooth ball, pinching the seams in the back and rolling, until smooth. Place the ball on the counter and roll back and forth with both hands to make a cylinder that is roughly 6″ long and 1″ wide.
  • Place the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheets, about 1″ apart.
  • Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until light golden brown.

Garlic Butter

  • In a bowl, combine the butter, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt. Brush over the breadsticks while warm. Sprinkle with the Parmesan and serve.

These Air Fryer Meatballs are a mix of beef, pork, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning for the perfect juicy bite. They cook up crispy on the outside and tender inside in just 20 minutes!

overhead image of air fryer meatballs in air fryer basket.

New to the air fryer? Check out my Best Air Fryer Recipes for Beginners, this JUICY Air Fryer Chicken Breast, or this Air Fryer Steak!

If you are tired of being fed dry, flavorless meatballs, you need to try these Air Fryer Meatballs! The air fryer gives these meatballs a crispy exterior while keeping them juicy on the inside.

Made with ground beef and pork, fresh breadcrumbs, and Italian seasoning, these juicy meatballs are such a great base for so many other recipes!

They’re also freezer-friendly, so you can have homemade meatballs any time you like.

Why we love these homemade Air Fryer Meatballs:

  • Quick cooking: They’re ready in about 20 minutes, so they’re great for busy weeknights when you need an easy dish.
  • Juicy and golden brown: They brown up so nicely, with no oil at all! And they stay so super juicy on the inside–it’s kind of incredible.
  • Easy: They’re easy to make! There’s no turning or flipping or fussing — just roll the mixture into balls and toss them in.

Ingredients for juicy Air Fryer Meatballs:

  • Meat: higher fat ground meat will give juicier meatballs, however, I’ve made these with lean ground beef, and they are still delicious.
  • Bread crumbs: I’ve found that fresh, fine bread crumbs + liquid equals moist meatballs. See my note in the recipe card if you need to swap for dried!
  • Water: I kept my ingredient list as simple as possible, so I soaked my bread crumbs in water, but you can use milk instead for a richer flavor.
  • Cheese: Parmesan cheese adds incredible flavor, and freshly grated is best if you have it. You can leave this out if you’re serving with barbecue or an Asian-inspired sauce.
  • Seasoning: Again, if you want, you can experiment! I like meatballs simply seasoned so I can use them in a variety of ways.

How to make this Air Fryer Meatball recipe:

These easy Air Fryer Meatballs are so easy to make and come out perfectly golden brown and juicy! For the full list of recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card.

  • Tear the bread into pieces, process it into crumbs, and mix with water. Let it sit for a few minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, Parmesan, egg, seasonings, and soaked bread. Mix until just combined.
  • Form the meat mixture into small meatballs. Place the meatballs in a single layer in the air fryer basket, and cook until they reach the right internal temperature.
  • Repeat the process until all meatballs are cooked, then enjoy!

Quick notes:

  • Don’t overmix the meatball mixture or you may end up with tough meatballs!
  • Use a cookie scoop to portion out perfectly sized meatballs.

How to store leftover meatballs:

Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave for a minute or two, or add them to your favorite sauce right from the fridge!

How to freeze Air Fryer Meatballs:

I love having a big bag of juicy homemade meatballs in the freezer — they are so perfect for adding to a simmering pot of sauce or quick weeknight meals!

To freeze, simply bake until cooked through and allow to cool for 20-30 minutes at room temperature.

Place in a zip-top freezer bag — making sure to squeeze all the air out before sealing completely. Label, place in the freezer, and freeze for up to 3 months.

To serve, you can simply throw them right from frozen into whatever sauce you have simmering. Heat through and devour.

These ultra crispy Air Fryer Potato Wedges are made with just a few simple ingredients and turn out perfectly every time! Golden and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

close up image of potato wedges in air fryer basket with ketchup

Love potatoes as much as I do? Try these Air Fryer Potatoes, Air Fryer Baked Potato, and Air Fryer French Fries.

The Air Fryer is our favorite way to get food that is perfectly golden and crispy on the outside without drying out the inside, and — I promise you — these Air Fryer Potato Wedges are perfection.

The air fryer circulates hot air all around the potatoes, resulting in a crispy texture without deep frying! Plus, you need much less oil than French fries, so they’re lower in fat.

Simply seasoned, they are great paired with your favorite dipping sauce as an appetizer or a versatile side dish.

Why we love these Air-Fried Potato Wedges:

  • Minimal prep: No need to peel the potatoes—just cut, soak, and season.
  • Crispy yet light: The air fryer gives you that crispy texture without all the oil, making them a healthier snack or side.
  • Customizable: Add as much garlic, spice, or seasoning as you like to make these wedges your own!

What people are saying:

“We just made this recipe with small gold potatoes (we are on a camping trip and that is what we had) , they turned out great. I will try the russet potatoes at a later date.” Doug

Add your review

Ingredients for these easy Air Fryer Potato Wedges:

  • Russet potatoes: Russet potatoes are the most common potatoes for baking and work great for air frying as well. You can use any other kind of potato for this recipe, but you may have to adjust the cook time slightly.
  • Canola oil: Canola oil has a neutral flavor and high smoke point, which makes it the perfect oil for air frying. Aerosol nonstick sprays are not recommended for the air fryer, and tossing the potatoes in oil before seasoning is a great way to get an even coat.
  • Seasoning salt: Seasoning salt is kind of a one-shot wonder around here. It includes many different spices and seasonings that we would normally combine to season potato wedges, so if you’ve got it, use it!
  • Garlic powder: Most seasoning salts include garlic powder but I like to add a little bit extra!

Seasoning Variations

Garlic Parmesan: Skip the seasoning salt and opt for garlic powder, salt, and pepper. When the wedges come out, sprinkle them with freshly grated Parmesan cheese!

No seasoning salt: No seasoning salt? Mix up a combination of salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper to make your own. You can also use any pre-mixed seasoning blend you like! The options are endless.

How to make crispy Potato Wedges in the air fryer:

Cooking these potato wedges in the air fryer is a breeze! For the full list of recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card.

  • Cut the the potatoes in half lengthwise.
  • Cut the potatoes in half again to make quarters.
  • Cut each quarter into 3-4 wedges. They should be the same thickness for even cooking!
  • Soak the wedges in cold water. Drain the water and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Drizzle with oil, sprinkle with seasoning salt and garlic powder, and toss to coat evenly.
  • Place the seasoned potato wedges in the air fryer basket and cook until golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through.

Recipe Tip

Place potatoes in the air fryer in a single layer for even cooking! If the air fryer basket is too crowded, some parts of the wedges may be overcooked or undercooked. You may have to do a few batches!

Should I peel my potatoes when making potato wedges?

You can, but I don’t! I prefer not to peek at my potatoes because that skin gets so perfectly crispy in the air fryer!

If your potatoes are not as fresh and are a little on the wrinkly side, you can peel them.

bowl of crispy potato wedges with small bowl of ketchup

Do I have to soak my potatoes before air frying?

Yes and no.

Soaking the cut potatoes in cold water before air frying removes the excess starch on the outside of the potato, providing maximum crispiness!

You can skip this extra step if your family needs dinner like now. But keep in mind that you will have better results if you take the extra 30 minutes!

Serving suggestions:

Serve these homemade potato wedges with Air Fryer Chicken Tenders or the Best Oven Fried Chicken and your favorite dipping sauce like Spicy Mayo or Homemade BBQ Sauce!

  • Place potato wedges in dry bowl, drizzle with oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt and garlic powder. Toss to coat.
  • Place potatoes in air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes, opening to stir and flip potatoes once or twice through the cook time. *NOTE: a single layer is best but not necessary. If you only have a single layer of potatoes, they may cook more quickly so keep an eye on them. The more full your basket is, the longer it will take to cook. Be gentle when you stir and don't do it too often as the wedges can break and crumble.
  • Cook to desired crispiness and serve.

This Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip requires only five basic ingredients, 10 minutes of prep, and your trusty slow cooker! It’s cheesy, a little spicy, and perfect for whipping up before a party or a game.

Want more quick dips for your next party? Check out my Homemade Rotel DipTaco Dip, and Cheesy Chicken Alfredo Dip!

This Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip is a total game-changer when it comes to easy, crowd-pleasing appetizers. It’s an almost hands-off version of my Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe but still just as delicious!

You only need a handful of simple ingredients — toss everything into the slow cooker, set it to low heat, and you’re done!

This easy Buffalo Chicken Dip is one of my favorite go-to appetizers for any occasion, from an office potluck to game day! Make it ahead of time for a low-stress appetizer that will have everyone asking for the recipe.

celery stick scooping buffalo chicken dip out of crockpot.

Why we love this Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip:

  • Low-stress: Waited until the last minute to think of an appetizer? No worries! This dip only takes 2 hours to cook in the crockpot, so you can easily throw everything together, and keep it warm until guests arrive.
  • Make-ahead friendly: You can prep all the ingredients up to 2 days in advance, pop everything in the slow cooker, and leave it in the fridge until you’re ready to cook it!
  • Perfect for parties: This chicken dip recipe makes 12 servings, so it’s perfect for larger gatherings! You can even double or triple the batch depending on how many people you have.

Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe ingredients:

ingredients needed for crockpot buffalo chicken dip in bowls and plate.
  • Cream cheese: You’ll need one block of cream cheese for this recipe, not the kind that comes in a tub! I use full-fat cream cheese, but you could use low-fat cream cheese if you prefer. Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature so it melts more easily!
  • Chicken breast: Using pre-cooked shredded chicken makes this recipe a breeze! Use your favorite basic shredded chicken recipe (or try my Crockpot Shredded Chicken), rotisserie chicken, or canned chicken if you’re in a pinch.
  • Mozzarella cheese: shred your own for the best melt-ability!
  • Buffalo wing sauce: Go for a classic buffalo wing sauce like Frank’s Redhot sauce for that classic buffalo wing flavor!
  • Ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing): Any basic ranch dressing will work for this recipe.
  • Spices: I use a blend of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper for a bit of flavor!
  • Optional garnishes: You can get creative with this part, but I like to sprinkle some blue cheese crumbles and green onions on top of the buffalo dip!

How to make Buffalo Chicken Dip in a crockpot:

This chicken dip is so easy to make! Just follow the step-by-step instructions below. For the complete recipe instructions, jump down to the recipe card!

  • Cube the cream cheese block into pieces.
  • Toss the cream cheese and the rest of the ingredients into the slow cooker.
  • Stir everything together.
  • Set to low heat, cover, and let it cook.

Variations and Tips

  • If mozzarella isn’t your thing, you can substitute pepper jack, cheddar cheese, or Colby jack for a slightly different flavor. It will still be delicious!
  • If you’re serving this dip at a party and don’t want to make it too spicy for your guests, opt for a lesser amount and set out a bottle of hot sauce or buffalo sauce for guests to add to their dip!

How to store this buffalo dip recipe:

Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or bake in the oven.

Can I freeze this dip?

Absolutely! Store it in a freezer-safe container wrapped in plastic wrap and again in foil to keep it airtight. The dip will last in the freezer for up to 3 months!

When you’re ready to eat it, let it thaw overnight in the fridge and warm it up in the microwave or bake it. For baking, place leftover dip in an oven-safe dish wrapped in foil and bake at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes. If you’re in a pinch, you can even reheat from frozen and add a few minutes to the microwave or baking time!

Serving suggestions:

I love serving this delicious dip with some celery sticks, carrot sticks, crackers, or tortilla chips for easy scooping!

  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken breast (about 2 breasts) 300 grams

  • ⅓-½ cup buffalo wing sauce (⅓ for good heat, ½ for spicier)
  • cup ranch dressing (you can also sub with blue cheese dressing)

Notes

Variations and Substitutions:
Chicken: I love making this recipe with Instant Pot Shredded Chicken or Crockpot Shredded Chicken that I have prepped in advance! It makes it super quick to throw together. You can make a vegetarian version by swapping the chicken with canned, drained white beans.
Buffalo sauce and ranch: you can easily make this recipe more or less spicy according to your tastes by adjusting the amount of each sauce.
Prep ahead:
You can add all the ingredients to your crockpot up to 2 days in advance. Cover tightly and just pop it in the fridge until ready to cook. Note that it may take a bit longer to warm through.
Storage:
Leftover dip will last in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. To reheat, warm in the microwave or bake until heated through.
To freeze:
To freeze the dip, spread it into a freezer-safe container and cover it tightly with a layer of plastic wrap and a layer of foil or a lid. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to serve, thaw in the fridge overnight and bake as directed. You can also bake from frozen by placing the baking dish in the oven while it’s preheating and continuing to bake as directed, provided that your container is freezer-to-oven safe.

These Buffalo Chicken Sliders are made with juicy shredded chicken smothered in spicy buffalo sauce and creamy ranch dressing and topped with melty cheese! Perfect for game day or as an easy dinner, and make-ahead friendly!

buffalo chicken sliders on a blue and white plate.

Try out these slider recipes for your next game day or party – Pizza Sliders recipeHam and Cheese Sliders, and Hawaiian Ham and Pineapple Sliders!

These Buffalo Chicken Sliders are everything you love about Buffalo Chicken Dip wrapped up in buttery slider rolls!

To make these sliders, I make a buffalo ranch chicken mixture, sprinkle it with mozzarella cheese, and bake! The buttery rolls paired with the spicy chicken mixture and gooey cheese are the perfect combo.

No matter the occasion, these Buffalo Chicken Sliders are a great choice. They’re super easy to make and are a huge hit for parties, football season, and everything in between!

buffalo chicken sliders in pan with parsley in the background.

Why we love this Buffalo Chicken Slider recipe:

  • Cheesy Goodness: The layers of melted cheese and buttery, seasoned rolls create a satisfyingly gooey and crispy experience that everyone will love!
  • Quick and Easy: These sliders come together in just about 30 minutes, making them perfect for busy days or last-minute gatherings!
  • Bold Flavor: With a mix of tangy buffalo sauce and creamy ranch dressing, each bite is packed with a delicious kick that’s hard to resist.

Buffalo Chicken Slider ingredients:

ingredients needed for buffalo chicken sliders in bowls.
  • Chicken: You’ll need 2 cups of shredded chicken for this recipe. You can use leftover rotisserie chicken or prepare this shredded chicken recipe (or make slow cooker shredded chicken!).
  • Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing: These two ingredients bring a perfect balance of tangy heat and creamy coolness. Use your favorite hot sauce and ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing for a more tangy flavor! If you prefer a little extra heat, add some extra buffalo sauce to the chicken mixture.
  • Honey: Just a touch of honey adds a hint of sweetness to balance the heat from the buffalo sauce. If you’re not a fan of honey, you can use maple syrup or simply leave it out.
  • Garlic powder and onion powder: These seasonings enhance the overall flavor of the chicken mixture.
  • Dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls: Sticking with rolls that are stuck together, like King’s Hawaiian Rolls, makes assembly easier. Use any type of slider buns you like!
  • Shredded cheese: This adds a gooey, melty layer that binds everything together and complements the buffalo chicken. I used mozzarella cheese, but cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese blend will work, too!
  • Melted butter and ranch seasoning: Brushing the tops of the rolls with a buttery ranch seasoning mix gives them a golden, flavorful crust. You can swap out the ranch seasoning for garlic powder or Parmesan cheese for a different flavor.

How to make this Buffalo Chicken Sliders recipe:

The following steps are a basic overview of making this recipe. For the full recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card!

  • Mix shredded chicken with buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, honey, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Slice dinner rolls in half (keeping them connected), and place the bottom halves in the baking dish.
  • Layer with half of the cheese, then the buffalo chicken mixture.
  • Top with the remaining cheese.

How to store and reheat leftover sliders:

Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Reheat in the oven at 325ºF for 10-15 minutes or until warm! If you’re short on time, pop them in the microwave in 30-second intervals, although the rolls won’t be as crisp on the outside.

You can also reheat in the air fryer at 325ºF for 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Can I prepare Buffalo Chicken Sliders ahead of time?

Yes! You can prep the chicken mixture up to 3 days ahead of time and store it in the fridge.

I recommend waiting to assemble the sliders right before baking so nothing gets soggy. When ready to serve, bake the sliders as instructed!

Serving suggestions:

Lay out some celery sticks and blue cheese dressing for a complete meal!

If you’re having people over for a party, make it a meal of small bites and add in some Homemade Rotel Dip and chips, Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings and these Jalapeno Poppers!

Notes

Ingredients and Substitutions:
Chicken: I love meal prepping a big batch of Instant Pot Shredded Chicken or Crockpot Shredded Chicken for easy meals! If you already have chicken ready to go, this recipe comes together super quickly.
Buffalo sauce and ranch: you can adjust these as needed to suit your tastes. I find with equal parts buffalo sauce and ranch there is still a good amount of kick. I wouldn’t add more than 2/3 cup sauce for 2 chicken breasts.
Add some slaw: homemade coleslaw is great on these! I recommend adding after baking for a cool, creamy, crunchy addition.

A big, beautiful Christmas dinner is great and all, but one of our favorite ways to entertain is to put out a big spread of small bites!

These Christmas Appetizers are easy to mix and match so you can have a variety of foods for every taste. They look impressive but are simple to prepare!

Here, you’ll find appetizers for every palate and skill level, from no-cook, low-effort snacks to elegant, put-together appetizers.

Looking for more quick bites? Check out my big list of easy appetizer recipes here.

What are the best Christmas appetizers for a holiday party?

The best appetizers for a holiday party are ones that include seasonal ingredients, such as cranberries, or are warm and cozy, like Crockpot Smokies.

If you’re serving them before dinner, you want lighter, smaller bites that are just enough to keep your guests from becoming hangry.

If your Christmas Appetizers are the meal, then you want a selection of lighter and heartier bites with a little more variety.

Some of my favorites for serving at holiday parties include Baked Brie Bites, Cranberry Bacon Jam Crostini, and the iconic Cheese Ball. They’re easy to make, have that warm holiday feel, and are the perfect size for munching!

How many Christmas appetizers do I need per person for a party?

A general rule of thumb I like to follow is to allow for 3-5 bites per person if they are accompanying a meal, or 15-20 appetizer bites per person if you are serving a meal of finger foods.

I know that might sound like a lot, but you’d rather have too many than not enough! Plus, you can always make a double or triple batch of many of these recipes to allow for larger crowds, such as the Cheese Ball Recipe or Bacon-Wrapped Dates.

  • Lean ground beef: I recommend using at least 90% lean ground beef for this recipe as it doesn’t get too greasy, which can make the rolls soggy. If you don’t like ground beef, these sliders can also be made with ground turkey or ground chicken, but the flavor won’t be quite the same.
  • Medium onion: This is sautéed with the ground beef to add flavor! I finely dice up the onion so it sautés evenly and blends well with the ground beef.
  • Barbecue sauce, ketchup, sweet relish, salt, ground mustard, black pepper: I whipped up a delicious sauce to mix with the ground beef, giving these sliders that classic cheeseburger flavor!
  • Cheddar cheese slices: This melty cheese is a classic for burger sliders and gets super gooey as it melts! You can use any kind of cheese you like, such as Monterey Jack, pepper Jack, white cheddar, or Swiss cheese.
  • Thousand Islands dressing (optional): If you want an extra layer of flavor, you can add Thousand Island dressing to the sliders before baking. You can skip it if you want or make homemade Spicy Mayo or use your favorite burger sauce.
  • Pickle slices: These give the sliders that classic burger feel and add a little tangy flavor! If you don’t like pickles, you can leave them out.
  • Melted butter: This is brushed over the slider buns to give them that golden brown toasty sheen. It also helps the sesame seeds stick to the buns.
  • Sesame seeds: These are sprinkled on top of the buns to give them a little crunch and flavor.

How to make Cheeseburger Sliders

These Cheeseburger Sliders are so easy to make with these step-by-step instructions! Check out the recipe card below for more in-depth recipe instructions

  • Preheat your oven and grab a baking dish. Brown the ground beef and onion in a pan. Stir in your favorite burger fixings.
  • Cut the stuck-together buns in half horizontally so you have a top and bottom layer.
  • Place the buns in a baking dish. Then, layer on cheese and Thousand Island dressing.
  • Add the beefy mixture on top.
  • Add another layer of cheese and top with a layer of pickles.
  • Brush the top of the rolls with melted butter for a golden brown finish. Sprinkle on sesame seeds if you like. Pop it in the oven until the cheese is gooey and the buns are toasted.

Recipe Tips

  • I recommend layering the cheese first before adding the ground beef and other ingredients to prevent the rolls from becoming soggy.
  • If you’re serving a large crowd, you can double the recipe, so you’ll have plenty for your guests!

How to store and reheat Cheeseburger Sliders

Leftover Cheeseburger Sliders will last in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.

To reheat, place the sliders in a baking dish covered in foil for 12-15 minutes at 350ºF. Alternatively, you can reheat them in the air fryer for 5-10 minutes at 375ºF!

Make-Ahead

You can make the ground beef mixture ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. I don’t recommend assembling the sliders ahead of time as they tend to get soggy!

Serving suggestions:

Cheeseburger Sliders are best served right when they come out of the oven when they’re piping hot! Serve on their own or alongside Cheesy Garlic Bread, Jalapeno Poppers, and Bacon Wrapped Smokies!

Notes

Ingredients and Substitutions:
  • Ground beef: feel free to swap the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken if you prefer, keeping in mind this will give them a different flavor.
  • Cheese: your favorite kind of cheese will work great!
  • Thousand Islands dressing: this is optional, and I know not all like it. If you’d rather, you can skip it or simply use mayo.
Storage:
These sliders reheat surprisingly well! I recommend reheating in the oven or air fryer, uncovered, for the best (not soggy results).
Make ahead:
While I don’t recommend making the sliders ahead, you can easily prepare the ground beef mixture in advance and refrigerate it for 3-4 days.

These Air Fryer Chicken Wings are SERIOUSLY crispy! Served with your favorite sauce, they’re ready in just 25 minutes with minimal clean up.

Do you ever just crave a crispy, juicy, delicious basket of wings without having to go out?

For some reason, my kids love appetizers for dinner and we can make a meal out of these Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Nacho Fries and this Easy Stromboli!

The more I use my air fryer the more I love it!

Nothing beats that crispy exterior (with less oil!) and juicy interior.

Some of our other air fryer favorites are these Air Fryer Meatballs, Boneless Air Fryer Chicken Thighs and this Air Fryer Chicken Breast — they are all so juicy and flavorful.

But these wings — you have got to give them a try!

Ingredients Needed for Air Fryer Chicken Wings:

ingredients needed for air fryer chicken wings with label.
  • Chicken Wings: split chicken wings are what I use for this recipe, skin on for the best crispy coating!
  • Oil: this is how we get that golden exterior!
  • Corn Starch: soaks up any excess moisture and creates a nice crust.
  • Seasoning salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika: all add a ton of flavor! I use Lawry’s seasoning salt, but whichever is your favorite will work.
  • Sauce: this is optional (they taste amazing without any), but you can use buffalo sauce, barbecue sauce, or any of your favroites! They also taste great with this Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce.

How to make air fryer wings:

  1. Preheat the air fryer so that the wings start cooking when you get them in there. While it’s doing this, dry the wings with paper towel well (wet meat doesn’t brown!).
  2. Oil and season the chicken wings. Mixing corn starch into your seasoning is the key, because corn starch coats the wings easily and absorbs any excess moisture– making the crispiest chicken wings you’ve ever had.
  3. Then the air fryer does the rest of the work! You only have to flip them once during cooking, and they turn out so crispy and perfectly juicy!

They are just as easy as making these Crockpot Chicken Wings, but they come together even quicker!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings FAQs

How long does it take to cook wings in an air fryer?

In just 15-20 minutes these wings are ready to serve! The exact cook time will depend on the size of your chicken wings and how full your air fryer is. Your best bet is to check every 5 minutes until they are done.

Can I skip the oil?

Technically, yes. But if you really want crispy and flavorful chicken wings, the oil is key. The oil allows the seasoning and corn starch to adhere to the chicken wings and give them that crispy coating. Without it, they may be seasoned but they definitely won’t be as crispy.

What type of sauce is good with air fryer chicken wings?

Classic Buffalo sauce is always a good bet, but this Homemade BBQ Sauce or the sauce from this Honey Garlic Chicken would be amazing!

How to store cooked chicken wings:

In the unlikely case that you happen to have leftovers, they can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container up to three days.
To reheat, simply preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees and cook until heated through, 4-5 minutes.

What kind of air fryer is best?

That depends on what your family enjoys. This recipe was made in an 8 quart Chefman air fryer and we love it! It works great. But I haven’t tried them all, obviously 🙂

Can I cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer?

Absolutely! They will take a little more time, though. Simply toss in oil and seasoning as the recipe calls for, and cook for 20-30 minutes, checking every 5-10 minutes until done.

How to split chicken wings:

If you can’t find already split chicken wings, you can split for own!

  • Cut wings into three pieces. Start by stretching out the wing on your cutting board and cutting between the joint of the drumette and the wingette.
  • Then make a second cut between the wingette and the wing tip.
  • Place drumettes and wingettes in a large bowl. You can save and freeze the wing tips to make chicken stock!

How to cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer:

Cooking frozen chicken wings in the air fryer is easy to do!

Simply toss in oil and seasoning as the recipe calls for, and cook for 10 minutes, then flip and continue cooking for 10-20 minutes until done and crispy, checking every 5-10 minutes until done.

The only problem you make encounter is that the coating and seasoning does not stick as well with frozen chicken wings, since they will release some moisture as they cook. If this happens, you can season again and cook for 5-8 minutes until crispy.

Enjoy more of my favorite meatball recipes like Porcupine Meatballs, Sweet and Sour Meatballs and Turkey Meatballs!

These Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs are perfect for busy weeknights or an elegant weekend dinner! Made with homemade meatballs, beef broth, cream and perfectly seasoned, these meatballs always get tons of compliments.

The best part? The slow cooker does all the work for you! Once the meatballs are prepared, everything gets tossed into the Crockpot and slowly cooked to creamy, savory perfection.

I love these saucy meatballs all year round. However, they’re especially satisfying when the temperature starts to drop and I need a little bit of comfort on the dinner table!

Why we love this Crockpot Swedish Meatballs Recipe:

  • Easy: The slow cooker makes weeknight dinners manageable when life gets crazy! I love to prep the meatballs in advance (and even freeze them!) so this meal is quick to throw together.
  • They’re saucy: Like our kids, I’m all about the sauces, the dips and the garnishes. I like my meat smothered in something creamy and delicious, and this Swedish meatball sauce definitely does the trick!
  • They’ll do double duty: Need an easy meal to throw in on a busy night? Need a potluck offering for a holiday dinner? Need something elegant to serve guests that won’t make you lose your mind? Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs always fits the bill.

Swedish Meatballs Ingredients:

ingredients needed for slow cooker swedish meatballs in bowls.
  • Fresh Breadcrumbs: You can substitute for ½ cup dried bread crumbs if need be. Increase the milk to ¼ cup.
  • Ground Beef and Pork: You can use lean ground meat for less fatty meatballs, or go higher fat for more flavor (keep in mind this will make your sauce more fatty as well).
  • Cream: For a lighter sauce, swap the heavy cream for evaporated milk.
  • Broth: I recommend using low-sodium broth. That way, you can add more salt as needed and better control the amount of sodium in your dish.
  • Cornstarch: This is used to thicken the creamy sauce.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: No Swedish meatballs recipe would be complete without this!
  • Seasonings: You’ll need garlic, parsley, thyme, nutmeg, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper to create the very best flavor. Feel free to adjust as needed.
  • Milk: Any kind of milk will do the trick.
  • Eggs: These are used to bind the meatballs together.
  • Onion: It can be a white or yellow onion.

How to make Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs

These Crockpot meatballs are so easy to make! For more detailed step by step instructions, scroll down to the very bottom of this page.

  • Add all of the meatball ingredients to a bowl. Mix until fully combined.
  • Cook the meatballs.
  • Make the creamy sauce by whisking everything together.
  • Add the meatballs and sauce to the slow cooker. Cook until the sauce has thickened.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Change the meat: You can swap the ground pork and beef with really any other meat you prefer, like ground turkey or chicken.
  • Frozen meatballs: If you know me, you know I’m all about taking advantage of smart shortcuts when you need them. You can swap the homemade meatballs for frozen, store bought in these Swedish Meatballs and no one will know, which makes this recipe even more weeknight-friendly.

How to store leftover Swedish Meatballs

You can store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat for just 30 seconds at a time in the microwave until warmed all the way through.

Can I freeze Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs?

Yes! Let the meatballs and cream sauce fully cool to room temperature prior to freezing in an airtight container for up to 3 months. They’ll need to defrost in the fridge for a few hours prior to reheating.

Reheating tips

To reheat, I like to add a splash of water or broth and reheat in the microwave on high, or if I’m reheating a lot (like the whole batch), I do it on the stove top.

Can I skip the cooking and just throw the raw meatballs right in?

I recently tested this recipe with the raw meatballs added to the slow cooker with the sauce and cooked.

It worked fine, but the meatballs will release more of the meat juices into the sauce as they cook. This can lead to the sauce looking “fatty” or being thinner than expected.

The meatballs themselves were great and the sauce was still delicious.

Serving suggestions:

I like to keep my sides simple as a blank slate to soak up all of that gravy – these Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes or Garlic Mashed Potatoes are the perfect compliment, but plain buttered noodles work just as well!

Or, serve with Roasted Red Potatoes and some of Mom’s Homemade Buns to soak up that gravy.

Add something green – a salad, some Air Fryer Broccoli, Roasted Green Beans or Cheesy Baked Asparagus – and you’re good to go!

Calories 401cal

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 2 slices soft bread (white or brown)
  • 3 tablespoons milk (or water)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • ½ onion (grated or finely chopped)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs

  • 1 ¼ cups low sodium beef broth
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pinch nutmeg

Instructions

Baked Meatballs

  • Tear bread into small pieces and place in a food processor or blender. Process until the bread is in fine crumbs and combine with milk. Stir and let sit for a few minutes (*If you don't have a food processor, you can soak the bread chunks and then mash into fine crumbs)
  • Stir together soaked bread, beef, pork, onion, eggs, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a large bowl just until combined — don't overmix.
  • Shape meat into 1-1.5" balls and place 1" apart on baking sheet. (I get about 30-35 1.5" meatballs)
  • Bake at 425 degrees Ffor 10 minutes, or sear in a hot skillet with a drizzle of oil, just until browned on the outside. This keeps the meatballs from falling apart in the slow cooker, and keeps the sauce from getting too fatty!
  • Place in a 3-4 quart slow cooker (*At this point, once cooled, you can freeze up to 3 months for a variety of uses).

Swedish Meatball Sauce

  • Stir together broth, heavy cream, corn starch, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, parsley, salt, thyme, pepper and nutmeg. Pour over meatballs in slow cooker.
  • Cook on low until cooked through and sauce has thickened — about 3-4 hours on low or 2 hours on high.
  • Serve with sauce over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Notes

Ingredients and Substitutions:
  • Fresh bread crumbs: you can substitute for ½ cup dried bread crumbs if need be.
Can I add the meatballs to the slow cooker without browning?
You can, but I prefer not to because the sauce becomes very fatty as the meat releases its juices, and you risk the meatballs falling apart as they cook.
