These Easy Appetizer recipes are perfect for any occasion! Whether you’re looking for the perfect starter to an elegant dinner or the best dips to serve on game day, these easy appetizer recipes have you covered!

long collage for easy appetizer recipes with nine images and title

We love doing a meal of appetizers for different holidays, game days or just for a gathering with friends.

These are some of our favorites, and there’s something for every occasion!

How Many Different Appetizers Should I Serve?

This is a question I am constantly trying to answer myself. You definitely don’t want anyone to leave hungry but neither do you want there to be a ton of food leftover.

It also depends on the occasion. An elegant dinner party where the appetizers are just the starters to a nicer meal is a lot different than a holiday cocktail party or game day tailgating where little bites are the main event.

A rule of thumb is to make 2 or 3 appetizers for a dinner party and 5 or 6 for a cocktail party. I like to vary the dishes- maybe one savory, one slightly spicy, a lighter, healthier option, and a dip or two. And don’t forget the meat and cheese board!

Air Fryer recipes FAQ

What is the best air fryer?

This is always a hard question to answer because it depends on what you like! We have tried three or four different air fryers over the years, we found that we prefer the basket style over the oven style with the racks. We now own two Chefman air fryers, a 3.7 quart TurboFry and an XL 8 quart TurboFry. We love them both!

What are the best types of things to cook in the air fryer?

I find the best air fryer recipes are those where you want a little more browning and maybe even a crispy crust, without drying out the inside! Anything from chicken, meat, seafood, potatoes and vegetables always turn out great.

What can I not cook in my air fryer?

Well, everything can be cooked in the air fryer but that doesn’t mean it should be. Very large cuts of meat can be difficult to cook in the air fryer because they may burn on top (the heating element is very close in an air fryer) and not be cooked through.
Recipes that include a lot of different components or require a lot of moisture, like a soup or pasta dish, are not great recipes for the air fryer.
A lot of baked goods don’t turn out well in the air fryer (not that they can’t be cooked in it), because the close quarters and forced air heat tend to dry things out.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

This answer will likely depend on the recipe, but as a rule, yes, the air fryer needs to be preheated just like your oven.
To preheat your air fryer, set it to the temperature you will be cooking at and turn on for 5-10 minutes.

Can I fill my air fryer to the top?

Again, you can, but you probably don’t want to. Filling the air fryer too full will prevent even cooking and browning, which is the best thing about air fryer cooking. Try to cook in a single layer as much as possible.

Air Fryer Pork Chop Ingredients:

ingredients needed for air fryer pork chops in bowls and plate.
  • Thick-cut boneless pork chops: I prefer boneless pork chops for this recipe because they cook a little more quickly than bone-in chops.
  • Oil: I used canola oil for this recipe, but any oil will work.
  • Simple seasonings: Brown sugar, seasoning salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, ground mustard, pepper, and paprika make an incredibly flavorful rub. You can swap for simple salt and pepper or your favorite seasoning mixture if you like!

What kind of pork chops is best?

I like to look for a nice thick, boneless pork chop, at least 1 to 1.5 inches thick or as I can find. They will shrink down a bit as they cook in the air fryer. (Got extra? Try these Slow Cooker Smothered Pork Chops next!)

You can definitely use bone-in pork chops here, but they will take longer to cook so be sure to check with a meat thermometer.

If your pork chops are less than 1″ thick, they will cook more quickly, so it’s important to reduce and check them earlier so they are not overcooked.

How to make air-fried pork chops:

The air fryer does all the work in this recipe! Check out the recipe card for the full list of recipe instructions.

  • Add the seasoning rub ingredients in a small bowl and mix.
  • Coat the pork chops in the mixture.
  • Place seasoned pork chops in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook until done. Serve with your favorite sides!

Tips for Success

  • Pat your pork chops dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture! This will help the outside of the pork chops crisp up instead of steaming.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket! Place the pork chops in a single layer to promote even cooking.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Add some spice: Add a bit of cayenne pepper or chili powder to the seasoning mix for a kick.
  • Fresh herbs: Swap in fresh thyme or rosemary for a fragrant, savory flavor.
  • Smoky: Use smoked paprika instead of regular paprika to add depth to the flavor.

How to store leftover pork chops:

Place leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can also freeze them for up to 3 months. Just let the chops thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating in the air fryer at 380ºF for 3-5 minutes.

Air Fryer Pork Chops

Make juicy Air Fryer Pork Chops with this simple recipe! A few simple ingredients like boneless pork chops, oil, and seasonings create super juicy chops that are perfect for pairing with your favorite sides.
Course Air fryer, Main Course
Cuisine American
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 4 servings
Calories 203cal

Ingredients

  • 4 thick cut boneless pork chops about 1″ thick room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 380℉
  • Trim fat or make a few slices through the fat strip on each pork chop with a sharp knife (this will prevent them from curling up).
  • Drizzle oil on pork chops. Combine brown sugar, seasoning salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, ground mustard, pepper and paprika. Sprinkle evenly over pork chops.
  • Spray basket of air fryer with non-aerosol cooking spray (or brush lightly with additional oil)
  • Place seasoned pork chops in basket and cook for 10-15 minutes. (*Note that thinner pork chops will cook more quickly. Check the temperature at the 10 minute mark — if they are nearing 145 degrees F then cook just a couple minutes more. The cook time will depend on the thickness of your pork chops)
  • Serve hot with your choice of sides.

Notes

This recipe originally was simply seasoned with salt and pepper, but we love our Baked Pork Chops rub so much I wanted to bring it over here too. You can skip the rub and season with salt and pepper if you wish.
Ingredients and Substitutions:
  • Brown Sugar: this doesn’t make the pork chops very sweet, but does add some sweetness. If you don’t like sweet meat, you can reduce to 1 tablespoon.
  • Seasoning salt: is a mixture of salt and other seasonings, so do not substitute with an equal amount of salt. If you don’t have seasoning salt, add ¾ to 1 teaspoon salt.

Ingredients for making the perfect baked potato:

  • Russet potatoes: They are the must-have potatoes for classic baked potatoes, but you could also use red potatoes, sweet potatoes, or Yukon golds.
  • Oil: Rubbing the potatoes with oil maximizes their crispness and adds a little flavor!
  • Salt and pepper: This adds extra flavor, too. You can play around with different seasonings if you like!

How to make an Air Fryer Baked Potato:

This Air Fryer Baked Potato recipe is super hands-off! For the full list of recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card.

  • Wash and dry the potatoes.
  • Rub with oil, season with salt and pepper, and poke with a fork.
  • Place in the air fryer basket and cook until crispy outside and tender inside.
  • Check for doneness by piercing with a knife. Once it’s done, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Things to Note:

  • Wash and dry: Potatoes need a good scrub before you consume them, but things that are wet don’t crisp up. So we need to wash them well and then dry them thoroughly with a towel.
  • Preheat: I always set my air fryer to temperature for about 5-8 minutes before I want to put the food in so it goes in hot. We don’t want our food to sit in limbo while the air fryer heats up!
  • Cooking time: The exact cooking time will depend on the size of your potatoes, but the great thing about the air fryer is that you can pull the basket out and check earlier if your potatoes are small, or you can turn it on for another 5-10 minutes if you find they’re not quite done. The easiest way to check is with a sharp knife. It should slide in and out smoothly and pretty easily if it is cooked.

Baked potato toppings:

  • shredded cheddar cheese or another favorite cheese
  • sliced green onions or fresh chopped onions
  • salted butter or sour cream
  • crispy cooked bacon bits
  • Chives and other fresh, chopped herbs
  • Prepared tomato salsa or a scoop of questo
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Crispy fried onions
  • Prepared chili or vegetarian chili
  • Instant Pot Pulled Pork or Crockpot Shredded Chicken

How to store leftover baked potatoes:

Store leftover baked potatoes in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.

Reheat for 5-10 minutes at 400 degrees F, depending on how hot and crispy you want your potatoes. I recommend drying any condensation on a paper towel before reheating.

What can I do with leftover baked potatoes?

There are so many things! Use them to make these Breakfast Potatoes for a weekend breakfast, or chop them up and use them in this Cheesy Ham and Potato Casserole.

You can also stir them into this easy Potato Soup recipeHam and Potato Soup, or Crockpot Potato Soup — simply leave out the potatoes until the end.

This Air Fryer Grilled Cheese recipe pairs thick, fluffy bread slices with shredded cheese, cooking it in the air fryer until golden brown. It’s the perfect way to enjoy your favorite comfort food in less than 15 minutes!

Love easy air fryer recipes? Try this Air Fryer Quesadilla, Air Fryer Ravioli, and Air Fryer Tater Tots!

Making grilled cheese in the air fryer takes this classic sandwich to the next level! All you need is your favorite bread, a good melting cheese, and a little butter.

This recipe is great for when you want a comforting meal or snack but don’t feel like standing over the stove. You can also customize it to your liking for a truly personalized result!

Why we love this delicious Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Sandwich:

  • Crispy and golden brown: The air fryer gives you that perfect crunchy crust without the hassle of watching the stove. No mess, no fuss!
  • Quick and easy: This grilled cheese is perfect for busy days when you need something warm, cheesy, and totally satisfying.
  • Customizable: Switch up the bread, cheese, or add-ins like bacon or pesto to make it your own!

Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Ingredients:

ingredients needed for air fryer grilled cheese in bowls and plate.
  • Good bread: Pick something sturdy that crisps up nicely, like sourdough, rye, or multigrain. Soft white bread works, too, but it won’t get as crunchy.
  • Freshly shredded cheese: I always recommend shredding your own cheese for the best melt. Pre-grated cheese has anti-caking agents that can mess with the texture. Many types of cheese will work for this recipe, including old cheddar, gruyere, Monterey Jack, mozzarella, Swiss, or American cheese!
  • Salted butter: Adds rich flavor and helps create that golden, crispy crust. You can swap it for mayo for a tangy twist.

How to make the perfect grilled cheese sandwich in the air fryer:

This Air Fryer Grilled Cheese is so easy to whip up! For the full list of recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card.

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice in the air fryer basket, butter side down.
  • Pile on freshly shredded cheese, then top with the second slice, butter side up. Air fry until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.

Helpful Tips

  • Preheat: Preheat the air fryer before adding your grilled cheese so that it cooks evenly!
  • Watch the Time: Air fryer models vary, so check for doneness rather than relying on exact minutes!

Variations and Substitutions

  • Gluten-free: Swap the bread for gluten-free bread!
  • Dairy-free: Use oil instead of butter and use dairy-free cheese.
  • Make it spicy: Add a dash of hot sauce or use a spicy cheese to ramp up the heat. You can also spread some Spicy Mayo on the bread before adding the cheese for a spicy kick!
  • Add-Ins: Upgrade your grilled cheese with crispy bacon, sliced tomatoes, caramelized onions, mushrooms, sliced ham, or even a smear of pesto for extra flavor.
  • Use sliced cheese: You can use sliced cheese to cut down on prep time.

How to store leftover sandwiches:

Let the sandwich cool completely, then wrap it tightly in foil or store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.

For the crispiest results, reheat in the air fryer at 400ºF for a couple of minutes until warm and crispy again. A skillet also works well. Don’t microwave it, as it makes the bread soggy!

Serving suggestions:

Tomato soup is a classic (Roasted Tomato Soup if you’re feeling fancy!), but I pair this Grilled Cheese Sandwich with any of my soup recipes, including this Easy Crockpot Chili Recipe, The BEST White Chicken Chili recipe or my classic Chicken Noodle Soup.

It also pairs well with a fresh side salad, pickles, potato chips, or even air fryer French fries!

Air Fryer Grilled Cheese

This Air Fryer Grilled Cheese is the ultimate crispy, gooey comfort food! Buttery bread, perfectly melted cheese, and no watching the stove. Just easy, cheesy goodness!
Course Air fryer
Cuisine American
Diet Vegetarian
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 1 sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 slices good bread (sourdough, rye, multigrain, white)
  • ½-1 cup freshly shredded cheese (more or less according to the size of your bread)
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  • Butter one side of each piece of bread. Place one piece, butter side down, in the preheated air fryer. Top with shredded cheese and the remaining piece of bread, butter side up.
  • Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden.

Video

Notes

Ingredients and Substitutions:
Bread: choose a bread that is going to get nice and crisp and crunchy in the cooking process. Sourdough works great, as does rye bread or a nice seed bread.
Cheese: choose a nice melting cheese — many will work great as long as you shred it yourself. Pre-shredded cheese is not the ticket here! Old cheddar, gruyere, mozzarella — many will work according to your tastes.
Butter: I’m not mayo’s biggest fan, but you can swap the butter on the bread for mayo and it will achieve a nice golden crust as well — with a bit of a tangy flavor.

Air Fryer French Toast is the perfect way to start your day! Made with crusty French bread in an eggy batter, it’s warmly spiced with cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla. Ready in just 15 minutes, it’s perfect for busy mornings and brunches!

We love French toast here, and it’s no wonder. It’s deliciously sweet, perfectly spiced, and it’s so easy to make!

Making French toast in the air fryer is the best way I’ve found to get those deliciously crispy edges while keeping the inside soft and fluffy.

Why we love this crispy French toast:

  • Family-friendly: French toast is a classic breakfast the whole family will love.
  • Quick: This air fryer is the secret weapon for making classic French toast in a fraction of the time!
  • Easy: You only need 6 ingredients, and you can whip up this delicious breakfast in a flash.

Air Fryer French Toast recipe Ingredients:

ingredients needed for air fryer french toast in bowls.
  • Bread: I like to use thick slices of French bread for French toast. It keeps together nicely when coated in the batter. If your bread is a few days old, that’s even better!
  • Sugar and Cinnamon: I use regular ground cinnamon and white granulated sugar for this recipe, but you can use an alternative sweetener if you prefer.
  • Milk and Eggs: they make the base of the batter for French toast. Use whole milk for the richest flavor, but lower-fat milk or dairy-free milk like oat milk or almond milk.
  • Vanilla Extract: adds a warmness to the toast and compliments the cinnamon well.

How to Make Air Fryer French Toast

This French toast is super quick and easy to make! Full instructions are included in the recipe card below.

  • Mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Mix the eggs, milk, and vanilla in a shallow dish, then add half of the cinnamon sugar.
  • Whisk together until combined.
  • Dip each bread slice in egg mixture on both sides. Remove from the egg mixture and allow excess to run off.
  • Place in the prepared air fryer basket. Repeat with all of the bread slices that will fit. Sprinkle extra cinnamon sugar on top.
  • Cook each slice, flipping and cooking until completely golden brown. Serve hot.

Tips and Notes

  • Keep it warm. Keep cooked slices of French toast warm while you cook the rest by putting it in a dish in the oven set to 250ºF.
  • Stale bread. Bread that is stale will soak up the egg mixture better, and the crust will soften slightly as well. If you don’t have stale bread, place your slices in the toaster (or in the air fryer!) for a minute or two to dry out slightly.
  • Single layer. Do not overlap the French toast, or it won’t cook evenly. You may have to do a couple batches, depending on the size of your air fryer!

Air Fryer French Toast Variations

  • Use another bread. You can use another type of bread to make French toast, like brioche bread or cinnamon raisin for extra decadent French toast.
  • French toast sticks. Cut the slices of bread into small rectangle-shaped strips, then coat them in the egg mixture and cook them in the air fryer to make French toast sticks. Reduce the cooking time as necessary, keeping an eye to make sure the sticks don’t overcook.

How do I store French toast?

Leftover French toast will last in an airtight container in the fridge once cooked for 3-5 days. To reheat, simply warm in the microwave, toast in the oven, or heat in the air fryer until heated through.

Can I freeze French toast?

Yes! Cook the French toast and let it cool. Freeze the slices in a single layer on a baking sheet until frozen. Then, store them in a ziplock bag with parchment paper between the slices. Reheat in the toaster or air fryer to get the slices crisp again!

Make it savory by serving it with oven-cooked bacon or an Omelette!

Cuisine American

Cook Time 10 minutes
Servings 6
Calories 207cal

Ingredients

  • 6-8 slices french bread 1" thick
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (or another sweetener)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  • Slice French bread into 1″ slices. Stir together sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla in a shallow dish until combined. (The dish should be big enough to lay a piece of your sliced bread in to fully coat it.) Then, add half of the cinnamon sugar, this will help to prevent the cinnamon from clumping.
  • Place a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the air fryer basket and spray it with non-aerosol non-stick spray.
  • Dip each bread slice in egg mixture, making sure it is coated on both sides. Remove the slice of bread from the egg mixture and allow the excess batter to run off back into the dish. Place the slice laying flat on the parchment in the air fryer.
  • Repeat with all of the bread slices you can fit, in a single layer (you may have to do more than one batch). Sprinkle extra cinnamon sugar on top of the slices.
  • Cook the slices until they are golden brown, this will take about 5 minutes, before flipping them over and cooking until the other side is golden brown too.
  • Serve hot with fresh berries and maple syrup, or a dusting of powdered sugar!

Notes

To Store: Store cooked French toast in an airtight container or plastic bag in the fridge for 3-5 days.
To reheat, simply warm in the microwave, toast in the oven, or heat in the air fryer until heated through.
To Freeze: Cook the French toast slices and let them cool completely before transferring them to a baking sheet in a single layer.
Put the full baking sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes, until the slices have just frozen.
Once frozen, transfer the slices to a ziplock bag and freeze for up to 3 months, separating them with pieces of parchment paper so they don’t stick together.
To serve, bake at 350ºF in the oven for 10 minutes (or until heated through), or reheat in the toaster or in the Air Fryer!

These Air Fryer Meatballs are a mix of beef, pork, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning for the perfect juicy bite. They cook up crispy on the outside and tender inside in just 20 minutes!

New to the air fryer? Check out my Best Air Fryer Recipes for Beginners, this JUICY Air Fryer Chicken Breast, or this Air Fryer Steak!

If you are tired of being fed dry, flavorless meatballs, you need to try these Air Fryer Meatballs! The air fryer gives these meatballs a crispy exterior while keeping them juicy on the inside.

Made with ground beef and pork, fresh breadcrumbs, and Italian seasoning, these juicy meatballs are such a great base for so many other recipes!

They’re also freezer-friendly, so you can have homemade meatballs any time you like.

Why we love these homemade Air Fryer Meatballs:

  • Quick cooking: They’re ready in about 20 minutes, so they’re great for busy weeknights when you need an easy dish.
  • Juicy and golden brown: They brown up so nicely, with no oil at all! And they stay so super juicy on the inside–it’s kind of incredible.
  • Easy: They’re easy to make! There’s no turning or flipping or fussing — just roll the mixture into balls and toss them in.

Ingredients for juicy Air Fryer Meatballs:

  • Meat: higher fat ground meat will give juicier meatballs, however, I’ve made these with lean ground beef, and they are still delicious.
  • Bread crumbs: I’ve found that fresh, fine bread crumbs + liquid equals moist meatballs. See my note in the recipe card if you need to swap for dried!
  • Water: I kept my ingredient list as simple as possible, so I soaked my bread crumbs in water, but you can use milk instead for a richer flavor.
  • Cheese: Parmesan cheese adds incredible flavor, and freshly grated is best if you have it. You can leave this out if you’re serving with barbecue or an Asian-inspired sauce.
  • Seasoning: Again, if you want, you can experiment! I like meatballs simply seasoned so I can use them in a variety of ways.

How to make this Air Fryer Meatball recipe:

These easy Air Fryer Meatballs are so easy to make and come out perfectly golden brown and juicy! For the full list of recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card.

  • Tear the bread into pieces, process it into crumbs, and mix with water. Let it sit for a few minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, Parmesan, egg, seasonings, and soaked bread. Mix until just combined.
  • Form the meat mixture into small meatballs. Place the meatballs in a single layer in the air fryer basket, and cook until they reach the right internal temperature.
  • Repeat the process until all meatballs are cooked, then enjoy!

Quick notes:

  • Don’t overmix the meatball mixture or you may end up with tough meatballs!
  • Use a cookie scoop to portion out perfectly sized meatballs.

How to store leftover meatballs:

Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave for a minute or two, or add them to your favorite sauce right from the fridge!

How to freeze Air Fryer Meatballs:

I love having a big bag of juicy homemade meatballs in the freezer — they are so perfect for adding to a simmering pot of sauce or quick weeknight meals!

To freeze, simply bake until cooked through and allow to cool for 20-30 minutes at room temperature.

Place in a zip-top freezer bag — making sure to squeeze all the air out before sealing completely. Label, place in the freezer, and freeze for up to 3 months.

To serve, you can simply throw them right from frozen into whatever sauce you have simmering. Heat through and devour.

These ultra crispy Air Fryer Potato Wedges are made with just a few simple ingredients and turn out perfectly every time! Golden and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Love potatoes as much as I do? Try these Air Fryer Potatoes, Air Fryer Baked Potato, and Air Fryer French Fries.

The Air Fryer is our favorite way to get food that is perfectly golden and crispy on the outside without drying out the inside, and — I promise you — these Air Fryer Potato Wedges are perfection.

The air fryer circulates hot air all around the potatoes, resulting in a crispy texture without deep frying! Plus, you need much less oil than French fries, so they’re lower in fat.

Simply seasoned, they are great paired with your favorite dipping sauce as an appetizer or a versatile side dish.

Why we love these Air-Fried Potato Wedges:

  • Minimal prep: No need to peel the potatoes—just cut, soak, and season.
  • Crispy yet light: The air fryer gives you that crispy texture without all the oil, making them a healthier snack or side.
  • Customizable: Add as much garlic, spice, or seasoning as you like to make these wedges your own!

What people are saying:

“We just made this recipe with small gold potatoes (we are on a camping trip and that is what we had) , they turned out great. I will try the russet potatoes at a later date.” Doug

Ingredients for these easy Air Fryer Potato Wedges:

  • Russet potatoes: Russet potatoes are the most common potatoes for baking and work great for air frying as well. You can use any other kind of potato for this recipe, but you may have to adjust the cook time slightly.
  • Canola oil: Canola oil has a neutral flavor and high smoke point, which makes it the perfect oil for air frying. Aerosol nonstick sprays are not recommended for the air fryer, and tossing the potatoes in oil before seasoning is a great way to get an even coat.
  • Seasoning salt: Seasoning salt is kind of a one-shot wonder around here. It includes many different spices and seasonings that we would normally combine to season potato wedges, so if you’ve got it, use it!
  • Garlic powder: Most seasoning salts include garlic powder but I like to add a little bit extra!

Seasoning Variations

Garlic Parmesan: Skip the seasoning salt and opt for garlic powder, salt, and pepper. When the wedges come out, sprinkle them with freshly grated Parmesan cheese!

No seasoning salt: No seasoning salt? Mix up a combination of salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper to make your own. You can also use any pre-mixed seasoning blend you like! The options are endless.

How to make crispy Potato Wedges in the air fryer:

Cooking these potato wedges in the air fryer is a breeze! For the full list of recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card.

  • Cut the the potatoes in half lengthwise.
  • Cut the potatoes in half again to make quarters.
  • Cut each quarter into 3-4 wedges. They should be the same thickness for even cooking!
  • Soak the wedges in cold water. Drain the water and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Drizzle with oil, sprinkle with seasoning salt and garlic powder, and toss to coat evenly.
  • Place the seasoned potato wedges in the air fryer basket and cook until golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through.

Recipe Tip

Place potatoes in the air fryer in a single layer for even cooking! If the air fryer basket is too crowded, some parts of the wedges may be overcooked or undercooked. You may have to do a few batches!

Should I peel my potatoes when making potato wedges?

You can, but I don’t! I prefer not to peek at my potatoes because that skin gets so perfectly crispy in the air fryer!

If your potatoes are not as fresh and are a little on the wrinkly side, you can peel them.

Do I have to soak my potatoes before air frying?

Yes and no.

Soaking the cut potatoes in cold water before air frying removes the excess starch on the outside of the potato, providing maximum crispiness!

You can skip this extra step if your family needs dinner like now. But keep in mind that you will have better results if you take the extra 30 minutes!

Serving suggestions:

Serve these homemade potato wedges with Air Fryer Chicken Tenders or the Best Oven Fried Chicken and your favorite dipping sauce like Spicy Mayo or Homemade BBQ Sauce!

Course Air fryer, Side Dish
Cuisine American
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Soaking time 30 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings 4 servings
Calories 116cal

Ingredients

  • 2 russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons seasoning salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Wash potatoes well and cut into wedges (see post above for step by step photos).
  • Place potato wedges in a large bowl and fill with very cold water. Let sit for at least 30 minutes. If you want to leave them longer, simply place the bowl in the fridge and let soak for several hours.
  • Drain potato wedges and dry well on a clean kitchen towel.
  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Place potato wedges in dry bowl, drizzle with oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt and garlic powder. Toss to coat.
  • Place potatoes in air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes, opening to stir and flip potatoes once or twice through the cook time. *NOTE: a single layer is best but not necessary. If you only have a single layer of potatoes, they may cook more quickly so keep an eye on them. The more full your basket is, the longer it will take to cook. Be gentle when you stir and don't do it too often as the wedges can break and crumble.
  • Cook to desired crispiness and serve.

These Air Fryer Chicken Wings are SERIOUSLY crispy! Served with your favorite sauce, they’re ready in just 25 minutes with minimal clean up.

Do you ever just crave a crispy, juicy, delicious basket of wings without having to go out?

For some reason, my kids love appetizers for dinner and we can make a meal out of these Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Nacho Fries and this Easy Stromboli!

The more I use my air fryer the more I love it!

Nothing beats that crispy exterior (with less oil!) and juicy interior.

Some of our other air fryer favorites are these Air Fryer Meatballs, Boneless Air Fryer Chicken Thighs and this Air Fryer Chicken Breast — they are all so juicy and flavorful.

But these wings — you have got to give them a try!

Ingredients Needed for Air Fryer Chicken Wings:

ingredients needed for air fryer chicken wings with label.
  • Chicken Wings: split chicken wings are what I use for this recipe, skin on for the best crispy coating!
  • Oil: this is how we get that golden exterior!
  • Corn Starch: soaks up any excess moisture and creates a nice crust.
  • Seasoning salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika: all add a ton of flavor! I use Lawry’s seasoning salt, but whichever is your favorite will work.
  • Sauce: this is optional (they taste amazing without any), but you can use buffalo sauce, barbecue sauce, or any of your favroites! They also taste great with this Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce.

How to make air fryer wings:

  1. Preheat the air fryer so that the wings start cooking when you get them in there. While it’s doing this, dry the wings with paper towel well (wet meat doesn’t brown!).
  2. Oil and season the chicken wings. Mixing corn starch into your seasoning is the key, because corn starch coats the wings easily and absorbs any excess moisture– making the crispiest chicken wings you’ve ever had.
  3. Then the air fryer does the rest of the work! You only have to flip them once during cooking, and they turn out so crispy and perfectly juicy!

They are just as easy as making these Crockpot Chicken Wings, but they come together even quicker!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings FAQs

How long does it take to cook wings in an air fryer?

In just 15-20 minutes these wings are ready to serve! The exact cook time will depend on the size of your chicken wings and how full your air fryer is. Your best bet is to check every 5 minutes until they are done.

Can I skip the oil?

Technically, yes. But if you really want crispy and flavorful chicken wings, the oil is key. The oil allows the seasoning and corn starch to adhere to the chicken wings and give them that crispy coating. Without it, they may be seasoned but they definitely won’t be as crispy.

What type of sauce is good with air fryer chicken wings?

Classic Buffalo sauce is always a good bet, but this Homemade BBQ Sauce or the sauce from this Honey Garlic Chicken would be amazing!

How to store cooked chicken wings:

In the unlikely case that you happen to have leftovers, they can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container up to three days.
To reheat, simply preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees and cook until heated through, 4-5 minutes.

What kind of air fryer is best?

That depends on what your family enjoys. This recipe was made in an 8 quart Chefman air fryer and we love it! It works great. But I haven’t tried them all, obviously 🙂

Can I cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer?

Absolutely! They will take a little more time, though. Simply toss in oil and seasoning as the recipe calls for, and cook for 20-30 minutes, checking every 5-10 minutes until done.

How to split chicken wings:

If you can’t find already split chicken wings, you can split for own!

  • Cut wings into three pieces. Start by stretching out the wing on your cutting board and cutting between the joint of the drumette and the wingette.
  • Then make a second cut between the wingette and the wing tip.
  • Place drumettes and wingettes in a large bowl. You can save and freeze the wing tips to make chicken stock!

How to cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer:

Cooking frozen chicken wings in the air fryer is easy to do!

Simply toss in oil and seasoning as the recipe calls for, and cook for 10 minutes, then flip and continue cooking for 10-20 minutes until done and crispy, checking every 5-10 minutes until done.

The only problem you make encounter is that the coating and seasoning does not stick as well with frozen chicken wings, since they will release some moisture as they cook. If this happens, you can season again and cook for 5-8 minutes until crispy.

How to Reheat Pizza in the Air Fryer with just a few quick and easy steps! Once you master this foolproof technique you’ll never reheat pizza any other way again. It’s like enjoying a fresh slice every single time!

Check out more kitchen basic “how to” staples like How to Freeze Bananas, How to Cook Frozen Chicken Breasts and How to Cut a Pineapple.

two slices of cheese pizza in air fryer basket.

If you’re a cold pizza lover, this is not for you! For the rest of us who like our pizza slices to be nice and hot, grab your air fryer and let me show you the best way to Reheat Pizza in the Air Fryer. (Really, this is the only way I reheat slices of pizza anymore)!

Well, I do have plenty of knowledge of How to Reheat Pizza using the oven and it’s also pretty nifty when I’m feeding the family. However, the oven is really ideal for when you have a lot of slices or even a whole pizza to reheat.

Using the air fryer to reheat pizza is perfect for when you have a slice or two that you want reheated to the original consistency quickly!

So next time you need a quick pizza pick-me-up in the middle of the day, skip the microwave and enjoy a crispy, cheesy, perfectly reheated piece of pizza in just a few minutes.

Why we love reheating pizza in the air fryer:

  • Quick: The air fryer is famous for being fast. It preheats quickly and shortens that cook time.
  • Crispy: When you use the air fryer, it crisps up the pizza crust nicely, whereas the microwave notoriously makes a once great pizza so soggy.
  • Good as New: Yes! I swear, reheating a 2 day old refrigerated pizza slice in the air fryer makes it taste just like it was when it was first baked.
  • Versatile: This air fryer method works for just about any piece of leftover pizza you have in your fridge, no matter what the toppings are.

Recipe Tip

The first bullet point is probably the most important one to note. This recipe is QUICK! With that being said, try not to stray too far from your air fryer. You really don’t want your crust to burn! Once the pizza’s been in there for 3 minutes, start checking to see if it’s crispy enough for you. It won’t need much longer than that.

What You’ll Need

  • Leftover Pizza – This quick reheating method is for leftover pizza only, not for cooking pizza! It can be pizza from the night before that you got from your local restaurant or pizza that you made from scratch. Want to make homemade pizza so you’ve got leftovers to reheat? Try my Quick and Easy Pizza Dough (it’s a reader favorite!).
  • Here are a few of our favorite homemade pizzas that are just as delicious reheated!

How to Store Pizza in the Fridge

The air fryer can only do so much! If the pizza isn’t stored properly or it’s too old, even the air fryer may not be able to save the day. Here’s a few quick tips on how to perfectly store your leftover pizza:

  • Pick the right container. If you’re only planning to keep the pizza in your fridge for 24 hours or less, you can always just keep it in the cardboard box it came in. However, any longer than one day and it’ll dry out pretty quickly. I like using zip-top bags or food storage containers for pizza to keep it fresh for longer.
  • Don’t keep it for too long. Even in an airtight container, pizza only has a shelf life of about 2-3 days in the fridge. After that it usually starts to really become stale.
  • Let it cool before storing. If you toss a hot piece of pizza into an airtight container in the fridge, condensation will form. That means two things – bacteria will grow AND the crust will get soggy from the moisture. Always let your pizza cool fully to room temperature prior to storing.

Can I reheat frozen pizza in the Air Fryer?

Absolutely! I often individually wrap and freeze leftover pizza slices for the kids to have in their lunches or when they need something quick.

You can pop your frozen slices of pizza right in the air fryer to reheat — just add an extra minute or two, but be sure to keep an eye on it!

Recipe Tip

When it comes to reheating pizza in the air fryer, I don’t like to line the basket or rack with foil or parchment paper. That way, the air flow makes the crust nice and crispy. However, you can definitely it for easier clean up if you’d prefer!

How to Reheat Pizza in the Air Fryer

Toss it in, reheat and enjoy! That’s pretty much all there is to it. For even more details, scroll on down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F.
  • Place the pizza slice(s) in the basket or rack of your air fryer.
  • Cook for just 3-4 minutes, or until the crust has reached your desired level of crispiness!
